Digital X-ray is a form of x-ray imaging where digital sensors are used instead of the conventional photographic film. Digital x-rays provide better quality pictures and are environment friendly through avoiding chemical processing. Due to the format, these images can be easily trabsferred and enhanced.

The body region of interest is exposed to ionizing radiation to produce the images. The appearance of these images depends on how much the X-ray beam is attenuated by the body parts in its path

X-rays can be obtained for any body part from head to toe. X-ray can be used to diagnose bone fractures or joint dislocation, confirm proper alignment and stabilization following treatment of a fracture, and guide orthopedic surgery. X-ray guidance is also needed for various Endoscopic, Thoracic and Kidney related procedures.

Surprisingly, X-ray Chest, where we do not focus on the bones, is a very common study as a primary screening for Lung abnormalities.

X-ray procedures such as Barium studies, Myelograms, Hysterosalpingograms, IVU and Cysto-urethrograms remain important diagnostic tools.
