Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is a type of study performed with the help of CT scan. It is a minimally invasive medical investigation. It involves injecting a contrast material into your blood vessels and then using the CT scan to evaluate the flow of contrast into the blood vessels.  CT angiography produces detailed images of both blood vessels and tissues in various parts of the body.

This scan helps in diagnosis of blood vessel related diseases or related conditions such as blocked blood vessels, malformations of the blood vessels, congenital abnormalities of cardiovascular system, tumors, blood vessel ruptures or tears and aneurysms.

This scan is performed in the Radiology department itself and on an OPD basis. Patient need not get admitted to the hospital for getting this scan done.

CT angiography can be performed to examine the blood vessels associated with various body parts such as:

  • Brain
  • Neck
  • Heart
  • Chest
  • Abdomen (such as the kidneys and liver)
  • Pelvis
  • Legs and feet
  • Arms and hands
